Nickel-metal-hydride (NiMH)

Rechargeable (Secondary)

Nickel Metal Hydride’s chemical reactions are similar to Ni-Cad technology, but Ni-MH batteries typically offer two to three times the capacity of Ni-CD for any given size. This is similar to the capacity offered by Lithium based batteries.Another clear advantage on Ni-MH is that they do not contain any toxic metals, which are due to be phased out in just a few years and will prevent the older Ni-Cad batteries from being used in new products after 2018.Ni-MH batteries and battery packs made up of standard sizes (AA, AAA etc) are likely to remain popular for many years to come as they have high levels of safety and are very cost effective.

If you are using Ni-CD batteries there is a very good chance that Ni-MH is a sensible choice for future product development. In some applications a lithium alternative may make good sense. Each application is different and our team are dedicated to helping you decide which option is the best fit for your business needs.
